Contribute to NewJersey.FYI
NewJersey.FYI runs on tips from people who actually live here. The best stories come from folks who notice things the big outlets miss, whether that's a new restaurant on Route 9 or a zoning fight in Montclair that nobody's covering.
If something's happening in your town, your neighborhood, or your corner of the state, we want to hear about it.
What makes a good tip
Local specifics. We cover New Jersey, all of it. The more specific the location the better. "Something weird at the old Bamberger's building in Newark" beats "development in North Jersey."
Concrete details. Dates, names, addresses, documents. If you saw something, tell us what and when. Vague tips are hard to chase. Specific ones get followed up on.
Timeliness. A decision that's about to be made, a business that just opened, a road project that's been stalled for months. If it's happening now, don't sit on it.
Stuff that affects real people. School closures, NJ Transit cancellations, a landlord who won't fix the heat, a Shore town changing its beach badge policy. These are the stories we exist to tell.
What happens next
We read every tip. Not all of them turn into stories. Sometimes the details don't check out or the timing isn't right. But we take every one seriously and follow up when we can.
