NJ Transit Ridership Hits Post-Pandemic High as Commuters Return to Offices
NJ Transit hits 82% of pre-pandemic rail ridership
The numbers are finally getting real. NJ Transit reported its strongest weekday ridership week since February 2020, with rail lines carrying an average of 218,000 daily riders. Bus routes have been even stronger, actually surpassing 2019 levels on several North Jersey lines. The Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast Line led the rebound, driven largely by hybrid workers who now commute three or four days a week instead of five. NJ Transit credited the improvement to more reliable service and new direct-bus routes added last fall. Originally reported by NJ.com.
